I first met the musical prodigy Keeyen Martin briefly at an event a couple of weeks ago. From that meeting I was immediately Team Keeyen. His spirit, humbleness, and his love for music is going to take him very far.
“In a generation increasingly defined by cookie-cutter vocalists, mass-produced singles, and formulaic lyrics, the music industry may yet have hopes of promoting real talent and rekindling the “soul”-as well as the real singing”
Keeyen was raised as an only child in Charlotte, North Carolina, and as many of the musical greats he began singing at church at the young age of 5. By the age of 12, Keeyen had written his first song, and now at 25 his musical future could not look more promising. As a singer, songwriter, and pianist he is the definition of a musician on the rise whose dedication is sure to pay off soon. Keeyen is an example of using the gift that you have been given to the fullest. His mantra is “JUST DO YOU!” His mantra shows his refusal to be anything less than original and at this time in his life his musical mission is to uplift, encourage, and inspire his generation is going to shake the foundation of popular music in the coming years.
Keeyen has sang background vocals for several artists such as Michelle Williams, Rueben Studdard, Peabo Bryson, Rudy Currence, Donnie McClurkin and many more. He’s currently working with aspiring musicians and vocalists in the Atlanta area offering voice lessons, production coaching, music education, and publishing courses. His catalog of songs exceeds 150 songs. Recently, Keeyen has performed on TBN, VH1 Save the Music, BET, and ASCAP and has shared the stage with Roman GianArthur, Issac Caree, Jennifer Holiday, Marian Mereba, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Winans.
Keeyen’s new EP The Suitcase is gaining airplay in his hometown Charlotte, NC, Atlanta, GA, South Africa, New Zealand and the UK with raving reviews. With this type of momentum Keeyen is definitely on his way to becoming a household name and a recognizable voice around the world.
His new EP The Suitcase can be purchased on iTunes, Google Play, and all online retailers. Make sure you download your copy.
