This past Tuesday, The Lisa Lopes Foundation hosted their annual Birthday Celebration and Fundraiser to celebrate the life and Eye Legacy of Lisa. It was a great event hosted by Meelah Williams and ReignDrop Lopes and included a purple carpet hosted by 11-year old singer and editor Dai Time, an auction, and performances from Chiles Russell Taylor, Dance Factory, and 565 Nation.
Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes was a part of one of the biggest girls group TLC in history. Left Eye was a musical genius, consulted and helped launch the careers of several people in the industry.
Music was her mission, and she people became her passion. She dedicated the last years of her life to the education and empowerment of humanity through holistic healing, promoting social injustice and confronting educational disparities.
Lisa’s started her journey when she began traveling through the Central American country of Honduras. She was drawn to their natural beauty and most of all its people. During the visits, Lisa discovered that the key to physical, mental and spiritual health can be found in the earth’s natural resources, and insight she was eager to share with the world.
On one of Lisa’s visit in April 2002 she was involved in a tragic car accident and died.
The Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes Foundation (LLF) was founded by her mother Wanda Lopes-Colemon and Ronald E. Lopes to continue the work that she started. LLF is a 501 © (3) dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles and increasing educational equity for children and families living in diverse and economically disadvantaged communities. They do this by providing access to innovative programs, resources, and opportunities that increase life outcomes for local communities and abroad.
